Report: Katie Couric in talks for 'Today' return

Given the track record of female "Today Show" hosts with their own talk shows, bringing Meredith back may not be so far-fetched; Jane Pauley didn't make it with her own show; Katie didn't make it with hers; and I'm not optimistic about Meredith's. Maybe she'll also get "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" back.

Put a picture of Katie next to Savannah. There is hardly any difference. Same prettiness, hairstyle, perkiness. When they dumped Ann for Savannah, they were trying to re-create Katie. Bringing her back while Guthrie is on maternity leave is a stunt that will bring the show publicity and help them against GMA. I think it's going to happen.

My comparison isn't, in any way, shape or form, a criticism. Katie was really good at morning TV. Such a move would be a wise business decision.

I see I'm not the only person who thinks Katie and Savannah could pass for sisters. I'm not so sure, however, that the public has really accepted Savannah, given ABC's lead in the morning. There are a lot of questions Katie will have to deal with, starting with the obvious: does she want to go through the grind of getting up in the middle of the night again? OTOH, how valuable is she to ABC now? I'll be interested in seeing how this plays out.
