Report: MSNBC May Cut Don Imus Loose

What CBS Radio chooses to do with their morning star is up to them, but for years critics have said MSNBC should doff the Imus' simulcast. Perhaps this is the time.

Meanwhile, Imus has his annual radiothon Thursday and Friday (April 12-13), the only reason his suspension isn't underway now. One wonders how many people and companies won't make or renew pledges as a result of last week's indiscretion.

I hate to jump to conclusions on a deal like this, but I think Imus is finished. I doubt we'll see or hear from him again after Friday. I think this two week suspension will give the parties involved a way to work out a deal to cut him loose amicably. The loss of advertisers is just too great for his show to continue. The fact that folks like Sharpton still want him gone is just too much for those companies to take.

It's a shame too. I don't like Imus and think what he said was horrible. However, I have a far greater dislike for Sharpton. He's a racist and a hypocrite. Sharpton and Jesse Jackson both use threats and intimidation to get what they want from businesses. Frequently it's money for various projects involving their political organizations. It's tantamount to blackmail. I can't stand seeing them succeed. Unfortunately, people like Don Imus give them plenty of ammo.
