Reports: Erica Hill Joining Weekend ‘Today'

http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/489858-Reports_Erica_Hill_Joining_Weekend_Today_.php

Co-host was replaced on ‘CBS This Morning' in July

By Andrea Morabito -- Broadcasting & Cable, 10/12/2012 12:29:17 PM

Erica Hill is leaving CBS to join the weekend edition of Today as cohost, according to multiple reports.

She would join Lester Holt, who hosts Weekend Today on Saturday and Sunday, and Jenna Wolfe, who cohosts the Sunday edition. Former Weekend Today cohost Amy Robach jumped to ABC News in May.

Hill was removed as cohost of CBS This Morning in July and replaced by Norah O'Donnell, who was CBS News' chief White House correspondent. Hill first joined CBS' The Early Show in 2010; prior to that she was a correspondent for CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 since 2005.

Spokespersons for Weekend Today and CBS News declined to comment.

Hopefully, Hill will REPLACE Jenna Wolfe! While she wasn't a fit on CBS This Morning with Charlie Rose, I'm sure she would do fine on Weekend Today with Lester Holt.

Now, if they could solve the trainwreck on Regular Today, then they might have something. Then again, if Holt and Hill do well on the weekends, perhaps they are the future weekday team.

It should come as no surprise that Erica Hill left CBS. After losing her early morning gig to Norah O'Donnell there wasn't really any place at CBS for Hill to go.

Good for her. I tuned out of CBS TM when she left. Hopefully this is a good move for her.
Sorry to disagree but Norah O'Donnell brings so much more to CBS This Morning than Hill ever did.
As for Hill's move to NBC, congratulations to her. However considering "The Today Show" recent demise in the ratings, Hill might be better off to stay on the weekend show with Lester Holt than risk dealing with Matt Lauer, who reportedly is having panic attacks because "Today" is getting its rear end kicked in by GMA.

I was watching CBS This Morning until they let Erica Hill go. I liked her, but it was more because that show goes through so many host changes and their ratings never seem to improve, so I decided to watch a show that would give more stability. Between GMA's hosts and Today's hosts, I have to say that I like Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie more. Savannah was a fantastic addition to the lineup of Today, and I think Erica Hill will bring a great perspective to the weekends. She shined when she co-hosted CBS' morning show(s) with Chris Wragge (sp?) and I think she will do very well with Lester. I hope this is true.

I'm not a fan of Holt, but her moving there will cause me to tune in.

TVoR, if you like Norah, I'm glad you have a place to watch her. I find her to be arrogant, shrill and lacking warmth.

I haven't seen ratings for CBS This Morning since she joined so I have no idea if her joining the show moved the ratings needle.

This is always an interesting discussion, but I found Erica to be cold, terse, and remote on CBS This Morning. In fact, I didn't even recognize that she was the same Erica from CNN. Sorry but the chemistry just wasn't working between Erica and Charlie (which may not be Erica's fault -- Charlie is prickly and the format doesn't lend itself to small talk). I'm looking forward to Erica on Weekend Today -- that Jenna woman is dreadful.

I believe Norah is better, but I admit that she is inconsistent from day to day. Some days she looks very comfortable; other days she just stares at the camera.
