Repost: TK101 "Rock Me Amadeus" incident from the 1980's

Back in the mid 1980's there was an "incident" at TK101 where a jock played "Rock Me Amadeus" continuously for a few hours. I was reminded of this and asked what happened a couple weeks back. I was wondering if any oldsters reading might remember this. I remember the news story saying that there was either a disgruntled or psychotic jock that locked every one out of the building and played the song continuously until the police forced entry. Of course it could have just been a stunt. Does anyone remember the incident and if so can you fill in the gaps to the story?

Hi My Name is Steve Smith and just came across this note. I used to work at TK101 in those days and was a DJ during the afternoons 3-7pm. I was known as StevO. I recall this incident and was present at the time. Unfortunately, it was not the result of a psychotic episode from one of the DJ's but rather a made up stunt crreated by the staff and carried out by John Schuster...aka John Stewart Breakfast Flake and Program Director Mark Dagwell.. We wanted to bring attention to the station and as a result of a brainstorming session came up with this idea...We thought this would be a good way to get people talking so John "took over" the control room and started playing Rock Me Amadeus by Falco over and over. At the time the song was a fairly popular Top-40 song. I recall laughing hysterically as the phone calls started to come in. The avergage reaction was a mixture of laughter to "somebody call the cops and get this goof off the air!" Of course, the police never did appear and nobody had to forceably remove John from the control room. I don't recall how it ended exactly, but I think it had to do with some sort of concession with promise that the song would never air again on TK101. Of course, after it was all over the laughter continued and the Led Zeppelin and Van Halen were restored. Rock Me Amadeus though ended up in the trash......

DJ StevO

Hi, I was wondering two things, first if you knew the last name of the guy who played overnight? His first name was Rick and he was very tall. Please let me know if you remember/knew him and his last name. Second, did you know a lady name Sandy Hunt who was a DJ at TK?
