Republic to start charging for TV listings

Today's "TV Week" insert in The Arizona Republic came with a notice that they will start charging 25 cents a week for a supposedly larger version of the listings, effective August 9.

I would have thought that the Republic would stop publishing the listings, just like many other papers across the country have done, instead of start charging for them. Also, will they start updating some of the outdated information about the services in the guide after this goes into effect?

I saw the same thing. I'm part of the Arizona Republic Readers Survey Panel. They asked us several months ago, if we would be willing to pay extra for the TV Guide. I said, "No Way!". But I guess that they felt that enough people would be willing to pay. I think that they are going to be sadly disappointed!

Subscribed to the Republic and the Gazette for decades.

Stopped about 2 years ago. Bought it at the 7-11 a few times a week.

Then, they raised the price to 75 cents, and cut the content back.

Never looked back.

Don't miss it, and won't be sad when the Republic stops publishing.

Good riddance.

Just go to the TV Guide channel or, better yet, get a TV with the information box for each show. I haven't looked at TV listings in years. The Republic, as usual, is whistling through the graveyard.

First they shrink their paper size to what it is now, then they fill it with advertisements, old stories reprinted a few weeks or days old, poorly edited stories. Now they want to charge for TV listing what a crock.i can live with out it an the republic.
