Request: XM Channel Launches

Guest
Tonight, at presumably Midnight EST, as that's when many of XM's previous channel launches have taken place, XM will be launching 3 new channels.

49 - Big Tracks (80's/early 90's Classic Rock)
84 - Chill
173 - WLW (simulcast of WLW Cincinnati)

I am going to be recording one of them for the format change archive. I'll wait till around 11:00ish to determine which one, as I'd like to know if any of you can record two of the others.

P.S. - For the Sirius subscribers out there, there's rumors that there will be a few new channels on their end in the very near future as well :)
______________

I've had my XM Roady 2 on all night, and I still can't tune to these channels yet when I try going to them. How has this worked in the past? Do the channels immediately start working at midnight?

If I'm able to, I'll record the launch of Big Tracks.

Keep trying to use direct entry to access the channel. Some people have said they've gotten an "Off Air" message that stays on that way, I'm not one of them.

I'll being trying for Chill if you've got Big Tracks.
______________

My aim is to record the launch of XM chill. But since they are new channels it won't be easy as you can't tune to them.

I'd recommend trying to record Music Lab or The Flow since they are apparently the 2 getting replaced.

They usually use the same studio.
______________

I'm getting the "OFF AIR" thing on the 3 channels, but only for a couple seconds. Then it just changes back to the channel I was previously on. I'll keep trying...

Well it started right at midnight. I keyed in 49 just in time to hear "XM 49, Big Tracks," and then the first song, Billy Squire - Lonely Is The Night, to start. They couldn't have said much else in those few seconds right at the launch.

Chill ran a few liners and kicked off.
______________

Well, I missed 'em.

At 11:59 the three channels went active although the programming had already begun. I caught the tail end of a Bruce Springsteen song, just long enough to see his name on my display before the beginning of said Billy Squire song.

Oh well.
______________
