Jay definitely will me missed!!!! He was not only my influence for getting into radio, he was also one of my friends. RIP, my friend.

Thanks to Bobby Michaels and Jim O'Hara, I have a classic Jay Gregory aircheck from KSTT available to anyone who wants to download it. If you've never heard Jay, this is a great example of well executed, tight, uptempo, personality CHR radio in the 1970s. Right click the link and "save as" to get it for yourself. www.reallyradio.com/audio/JayGregoryKSTT.mp3
This is the part of the post where I'm supposed to talk about what a great jock Jay was. I won't. Download and listen to the aircheck. You'll like it.

I'm shocked! What I remember of Greg was he was a quiet person, and had a low voice for such a slender man. Greg was very keyed into his work when on the air. I was only 18 when Greg came to 96X in Miami and his tenure wasn't a long one, so I really can't go into details about him, other than the fact that he was always pleasant to me and easy to talk to. To his family and radio friends, you all are in my thoughts.

We all would really need to thank Jim O'Hara for that aircheck. When I was working for Jim O at Mix 96 back in 2000 he was cool enough to give that to me. And even during a couple of our aircheck sessions told me some great Jay stories. Still can't believe he's gone :-(

  • To all-
My name is Don Rascoe. I was a friend of Greg's since 1975. My family & I have lost a true friend. My children grew up with him. Going out to the farm - what memories!

Greg & I went to the B.B. King Valentines day show @ the Col Ballroom in 1981. Jim, you might remember me - I was the photographer friend.

All of us have lost a friend. I have talked with his family since this tragedy & they are most greatful for the out pouring of condolences & support.

If someone could direct me to an e-maill address, I could send a couple of recent photos taken before this tragedy.
