Until 1990, Banff had two CBC stations transmitting locally over-the-air. CHCT/CFAC had a transmitter there, and after CFAC went independent in 1975 CBRT added a transmitter there, which is still there. CKRD had a transmitter there until 1990, when it was deleted.

KREM and KXLY were broadcast over-the-air on some community-owned transmitters in British Columbia at that time.
