Red-letter day: Super Bowl I (Green Bay 35, Kansas
City 10). Note that this is the only time the game ever
aired on two networks, and that the game was played
in the late afternoon (1 PM PST, because IIRC the game
was played in the Rose Bowl).

Atlanta schedules are listed Eastern time (8 AM-1 AM)
and are from the Atlanta Constitution. Birmingham
schedules are listed Central time, sign on-sign off, and

Right area, Mr. Patrick, but wrong stadium...it was played at the Los Angeles Coliseum. A side note BTW, HBO is running a special about how Super Bowl I came about, really good presentation. I don't know what times it's airing on the main network, but HBO's Video-On-Demand service has it available right now.

You're right, it was the L.A. Coliseum. Also,
the game was blacked out in Los Angeles;
oddly, it was not a sellout.

To save myself an additional post, I might
mention something about two shows on CBS
that night. IIRC (and I'm taking a chance here),
this was the night the Rolling Stones were forced
by the CBS censor to say "Let's spend some time
together" instead of "Let's spend the night together"
on their Sullivan appearance (the Doors, later that year,
defied the censor and sang "girl we couldn't get much
higher" when they did "Light My Fire"). At least Mick
Jagger and company had the good sense not to buck
Sullivan or CBS; Jim Morrison and company never got
invited back.

Recently I saw a clip of the "Carol Plus Two" special;
something about it looked like "The Carol Burnett Show"
without her regular cast. Wonder if there was any
connection; i.e., was the special some sort of pilot
since her series began that fall?

6:00 PM The Beatles At Shea Stadium

This would be the 1965 concert from Shea Stadium and this special would be quite ironic since The Beatles' last concert in the United States would occur at Candlestick Park in San Francisco in August 1966. I didn't even know that The Beatles ever made any specials like this especially showing this special just a few months after The Beatles had stopped touring the United States.
