I should make a correction regarding the resemblance of "Ichabod And Me" to "The Andy Griffith Show." Robert Sterling's character, Bob Major, did have a housekeeper who, in fact, was his aunt. Reta Shaw played Bob's Aunt Lavinia, and anyone who has ever seen Reta Shaw will know that "Livvy" was a far more formidable figure than Aunt Bee. It still doesn't explain why this show failed in what seemed to be a can't-miss timeslot, between Red Skelton and Garry Moore, and against two-less-than threatening competitors: "Yours For A Song" (a Bert Parks-hosted game show) and "The Dick Powell Show." Well, I guess Jim Aubrey had to have a failure now and then, but this show seemed to fit right in with his emphasis on rural/small town-based sitcoms.
