That's an incredible list. I don't know what other city newspapers do this either. Here in Memphis we have the Commercial Appeal which does retro CA stories, but nothing on the order of radio skeds. In fact, half the time when their radio & tv reporter mentions a station he can't get the CURRENT call letters straight.

Isn't it amazing how each time segment literally has a named program. About the closest thing to it would be to glance at a station program log. All the music programs on the retro list you posted had names, just like the comedy and family shows. Shows one thing... radio really was a big deal back in the day.<P ID="signature">______________

Up I-40 a ways, the _Nashville Banner_ kept an extensive radio
listing through the early 70's. It was a grid side-by-side with
the TV listings showing what WSM, WSIX and WLAC radio were
airing at a quarter-hour granularity. The other stations (WKDA,
WMAK, WNAH, and WVOL) had truncated schedules shown but were
still present...and with the correct call letters and frequency.

Until the the mid 70's, there was a correpondence between each
of the three major TV outlets and the radio siblings, with the
identical call letters and network affiliations, so I guess it
made sense for the now-gone (and lamented) _Nashville Banner_
to have tables for the Big Three radio and TV.

I seem to recall seeing those listings in the Banner. The
Birmingham News did the same thing until the late '60s.

Very instrumental in the early history of rock.

Was this also R&B?
WGST was also the radio home of future programming legend Paul Drew in the late 1950s before WAKE.

Since this is before I was born, I'm going to take a logical
guess and say that Diggin' The Discs probably was an R&B show;
the name, the time slot, and the fact that the station apparently
did a lot of R&B programming makes me think so.
