Much regular programming is pre-empted today for Richard
Nixon's second inauguration. His second term, of course,
came to an abrupt end with his resignation, and Gerald Ford
became President on August 9, 1974. It would make more
sense for me to put up retro schedules for 8/9/74, but I
don't have any. Anyway, these are from the Atlanta Constitution
and run from 7 AM.

news is that it devoted only 4.5 hours to inauguration coverage,
as opposed to 5.5 on CBS and 7 on NBC. And if ABC carried the
inaugural ball--which I doubt--Channel 11 saw fit to pre-empt it.
ABC would be criticized later that year for not breaking into regular
programming with news of the Saturday Night Massacre, when
there were shakeups in the offices of Attorney General and Watergate
Special Prosecutor.)
