I'll post some more as time allows me to get them.

I noticed that the Atlanta stations seemed to put off the Sunday morning shows till noon, and WAGA didn't even air Face The Nation.

I remember that Broncos game, I think it was the playoff that was pounded by snow if I remember correctly. They went to the Super Bowl three times in the late 80s, losing badly each time. After the horrific third game against the 49ers, they had enough. It was as bad as Buffalo loosing FOUR straight Super Bowl games in a row. But it seems after the Broncos won Super Bowl XXXII, their fortunes have changed, well actually the AFC's fortune changed!

As for the indys, all I have to say is that the 80s and early 90s was the golden era for independent stations, who were airing classic reruns as well as some great syndicated fare.

Oh wow, while I was typing bpatrick added more! Looks liked except for Loving, the daytime schedule remained in tact. It was a HUGE mistake for ABC to bump Ryan's Hope in favor of Loving. RH was a well-established show was still doing okay against Young and the Restless and a fading Search For Tomorroe in the 12:30 slot, Loving was a terrible show that never stood a chance.

I think at the time Meet The Press aired on NBC at noon;
I don't think it moved to 9 AM until it went to an hour in
the early '90s. Face The Nation does air on WGCL, but
WAGA had bumped it long before. Also, keep in mind
that WSB had aired Meet The Press at 12:30 when it
was an NBC affiliate and probably wanted to keep a
news interview program where people were accustomed
to it; This Week is on at 11 AM nowadays, however.

I totally agree about Ryan's Hope; in its heyday it was
(IMO) the best-written, possibly the best-acted of all
the soaps. ABC should have kept it at 12:30; Loving
never did do much in the ratings, and moving RH to 12,
with a loss of East Coast affiliates to local news, helped
kill that show.

Not all daytime shows aired in pattern; Channel 2 pre-empted
11:30 AM (don't even remember what was on ABC) as well
as Loving; Channel 5 pre-empted $25,000 Pyramid (10 AM);
Channel 11 delayed Wordplay (12:30 on NBC) and Sale Of
The Century (10 AM), and didn't carry Super Password at 12.

True, and I debated whether to put Ind. or Fox
in parentheses by Ch. 36' s heading. IIRC, TV
Guide didn't start using (Fox) to indicate those
affiliates until the spring of 1987, when Fox
introduced a Sunday-night lineup built around
21 Jump Street and Married...With Children.
Also, the Journal-Constitution was still listing
36 as independent in January 1987. But you are
correct, classictvfan.

BTW, as an addendum to my comments about
what daytime programs aired out of pattern or
not at all, Scrabble (NBC, 11:30 AM) wasn't
carried on Channel 11. I don't recall what was
on ABC at that time; Hollywood Squares on
Channel 2 was the John Davidson version, syndicated.
Channel 2 ran Squares at that time because it had
run the Peter Marshall NBC version there from 1966-76
with great success.

I thought that channel 69 was airing $25,000 Pyramid from CBS in the afternoon around this time, I read on another site they were airining it around taht time and Card Sharks later in its run.
