How come since there was a NFL strike in 1982 that the Falcons football coach possibly talking about the strike and NFL '82 were still on the air?

Buddy Hayes said:
This was the last day of the baseball season, and I *think* NBC had a baseball game also, since there was no football.

Don't know if NBC carried a baseball game on that Sunday, although I think they did for other weeks during the early part of the NFL strike(as theyalso did in 1987)
For the record, ABC had the rights in those days to any lastday of the baseball season contests where a division title was on the line(as well as any Monday tiebreaker games).
The game on Oct. 3, 1982, involved the Milwaukee Brewers and Baltimore Orioles, who, by good fortune, just happened to be tied for first place and playing each other on the last day.
The Brewers won the game 10-2, with the team of Keith Jackson, Bob Uecker and Howard Cosell announcing.

All through the 1980s I watched the Auburn,Tennessee and Florida football shows on Sunday night on WATL

Although this is not in the listings, I believe this was the night when the first all night network newscast CBS News Nightwatch debuted and according to past listings on the forum WAGA aired the show.

and the alternate was the dodgers at the giants with joe morgan's famous HR knocking the dodgers out the platyoffs

WAGA Ch. 5 (CBS)

3:30 TBA (the NFL was on strike)
The "TBA" was an NCAA Division III football game: Wittenberg vs. Baldwin-Wallace (who won 16-14).

Giving them something to do, CBS sent Pat Summerall and John Madden to call the game (with Pat O'Brien on the sidelines).

Meanwhile, NBC filled their temporary NFL-less void by giving us the CFL, even deploying Dick Enberg and Don Criqui north of the border to some games. This was the first time we saw Canadian football on U.S. network television (then and now, it has always been on cable here).

Yes, it was. This is the second chapter (or "Fit," as Douglas Adams called it, taking a nod from Lewis Carroll).

Although this is not in the listings, I believe this was the night when the first all night network newscast CBS News Nightwatch debuted and according to past listings on the forum WAGA aired the show.

"The CBS Early Morning News" would have also premiered the next morning, replacing "Sunrise Semester" on those CBS affiliates that still carried it. That would mean that WAGA's 6AM airing of "Sunrise Semester" would have been the last show of the series.

The Falcons would have hosted the San Diego Chargers that day, and aired as the NBC early game on Ch. 11. Ch. 5's CBS game at 4 pm would have been the New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys.
