Why didn't WSB carry Card Sharks? Were Password Plus and Hollywood Squares on a one day delay since they aired at I think 11:00 and 11:30 AM Central?

Hollywood Squares aired on NBC at 10:30 AM; Password
Plus at 12:30, so these would have been on a day-behind
basis. Channel 2 pre-empted Card Sharks (10 AM) and
High Rollers (11 AM) for the same reason it delayed Squares:
Dinah Shore was on from 10-11:30. It also pre-empted the
original Chain Reaction (12 Noon) for local news, and Mary
Tyler Moore aired at 12:30.

At the time, Channel 5 pretty much dominated mornings,
just on the strength of Donahue and The Price Is Right;
The Edge Of Night, Laverne & Shirley, Family Feud, and
Ryan's Hope (one of only two soaps, along with All My
Children, that 11 held to the end of its ABC affiliation)
did OK for Channel 11.

Remember that in 1980 NBC's daytime schedule (especially
in the morning) was a shambles. And it didn't get any better
when 2 turned down David Letterman and Texas, and dropped
everything on the NBC schedule except Days Of Our Lives, in
the summer of 1980. By then, of course, 2 had decided to
go to ABC; 11 took Letterman, Another World, The Doctors,
and Texas about a month before the switch.

But all's well that ends well: once 11 became the NBC affiliate,
it carried all of NBC's daytime schedule except Card Sharks, which
had moved to noon and conflicted with 11's news.
