There may be a reason why the old WNAC-7 was not listed as carrying the NBA playoff game from the network on April 23rd, 1967: It was 5th game of the Finals (between the Philadelphia 76ers and the then-San Francisco Warriors), and as an "if necessary" game, the station may have submitted a TV listing for that date assuming there would be no playoff game that day.

According to the sports section of that day's Boston Globe, WNAC indeed did carry that game. The TV supplement of that same newspaper does not list the game as being carried by WNAC.

According to the sports section of that day's Boston Globe, WNAC indeed did carry that game. The TV supplement of that same newspaper does not list the game as being carried by WNAC.

The way the Herald had it listed had all the other ABC affiliates in New England (WNHC, WTEV, WMTW, WHYN, WMUR and others) running the game. Neither the game listing or WNAC's movie listing had anything about "if necessary" at all.

As for WHDH and the Red Sox game, according to the TV Guide week of May 20-26, 1967 games from Fenway were broadcast in color. It could just have been an error on the Herald's part, which would be strange since the Herald owned WHDH.

It's possible that WNAC-7 submitted a couple of weeks ahead of time a TV listing with the movie because they didn't know there would be an NBA Finals game that day.
