Interesting that the OTA channels didn't start daytime programming til mid-morning or later. I remember going into stores in Barbados in 1978 that sold TVs, and the local channels were still on test pattern at 10 AM.
 
In fact, television in 1988 broadcast many hours compared to a couple of years later. Between 1990 and 2004, channels 9, 11 and 13 started their programming at 11:30/12:00, with weekend programming starting as late as 13:00.
