Retro: Carolina-Tennessee Friday, December 18, 1970

From TV Guide, Carolina-Tennessee Edition

NOTES: TV Guide doesn't indicate if the PBS stations have
in-school programs; for daytime I will list what TV Guide has for
Chs. 2, 17, 29, and 33. Also, this is the night Lester Maddox walked
off Dick Cavett's show after Cavett made a remark about the "bigots"
who elected Maddox governor of Georgia. I was living in Birmingham
and had picked up Atlanta's Ch. 11, where a Hawks game was on. When
the station's 11 PM news came on Maddox was the lead story, but then-anchor
(later sportscaster) Bob Neal said Atlanta viewers would have to wait until
Sunday to see it, since the station already had a movie scheduled at 11:30.
