Even though it began as an ABC primary affiliate, WINK-TV did not have a direct ABC net feed until two years later. By then, it only cleared one or two ABC programs a week. Both WCKT (7) NBC and WLBW (10) ABC from Miami had uhf translators in Ft. Myers. The cable system did offer WSUN-TV for ABC as well as WFLA-TV for NBC. WEDU was also on the Lee County cable. At the time, Miami was not.

Several of these local shows were still on the air in the '70s,
such as "Grower's Almanac," "It's The Law," and "Central Florida Showcase"
on Ch. 6, "Florida Gardenland" on Ch. 8, and "Insight" on Ch. 13.

I noticed in the listing for Lawrence Welk on Chs. 9 and 38 that his show
originated from New York that night. I was under the impression from the
PBS reruns that he did only one show from New York, in 1958. The folks
at OETA ought to know about this.
