4 was probably showing "Peppermint Place"; 2 was likely airing an infomercial.
 
I know that then-NBC WCIV 4 (now ABC) hired Dean Stephens as weekend sports anchor that year (he's now the anchorman). Does anybody know what year WCIV weatherman Tom Crawford joined? I know Bill Walsh (now at rival WCSC 5) was at 4 at the time along with Dee Earley Crosby and Dean Swanson.

BTW, Garrick Utley anchored the weekend editions of NBC Nightly News that year.
