Retro: Chicago, May 1943

One channel only, exact date not given, but it was on a Monday. Schedule may not be complete, but it was wartime on an experimental station, after all.

W9XBK Channel 2 (60-66 MHz)
7:30 PM: B&K News -- Cubberly and Campbell
7:45 PM: Joseph Golan, Violin Virtuoso. Lois Albright at the piano.
8:00 PM: Film -- Getting Together (1928)*
8:10 PM: Burr Tillstrom Presents Kukla, The Patriotic Puppet
8:30 PM: The Home Front with Harry Cansdale

* A search of IMDB revealed a one-reel silent movie called Getting Together that was released in 1928. No cast or other details about the film were listed, but the production company was listed as Sports Pictorals.

Wow is this the oldest listing we've seen on RadioDiscussions for TV?
There apparently was another TV station in Chicago in 1943 W9XZV, and why it's not listed I don't know. W9XBK would eventually become WBBM, Chicago's CBS affiliate.

W9XZV was Zenith's experimental station on Channel 1 (50-56 MHz). They must not have aired anything other than maybe a test pattern that day.

And of course "B&K News" was a reference to then-owners Balaban and Katz, which was a prominent motion picture theatre owner in the region back then.
