I knew the Avco (NBC) stations (WLWD, WLWC, and WLWT) were
pre-emption prone in daytime, but I can't believe the extent of
pre-emptions on the CBS stations:

WHIO at least had the excuse of a dual CBS/ABC affiliation, but I
notice "Your Surprise Package" (a game show hosted by George Fenneman,
BTW) being pre-empted by ABC's reruns of Bob Cummings' "Love That Bob".

CBS must have had a terribly weak morning lineup; WAGA used to pre-empt
it as well. OTOH, it's interesting that ABC affiliates WTVN (WSYX) and WKRC
basically stay with their network (even though "American Bandstand" runs only
30 minutes in Columbus).

As I recall, however, by the summer of 1962 NBC was pretty much in control
of the morning ("Say When," "Play Your Hunch," "Price Is Right," and "Concentration"),
CBS's midday soap block ("Love Of Life," "Search For Tomorrow," "Guiding Light," and
"As The World Turns") basically owned noon-2 PM (OK, "Truth Or Consequences" was
competitive on NBC), but ABC and CBS were locked in a tight race for first from 2-5 PM:
