SMU football was big even then.

...the most interesting of the three schedules is KRLD-TV/4's, with only afternoon hours and two kinescoped CBS shows, one of which was the 10-minute-long Sonny Kendis Show (aired live on the network at 7:45 PM Eastern/6:45 Central on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays). And while KBTV/8 has a boxing program (probably an hour of DuMont's Boxing from Sunnyside Gardens, also kinnied from 9:30 ET/8:30 CT Thursdays), there's no wrestling program in sight on a Saturday in Big D - ever think you'd live to hear that observation? ;D - even though DuMont's Wrestling from Marigold would have been fed live at 10:00 ET/9:00 CT, during KBTV's last hour on the air that day...

I don't think there was such a thing as networks "feeding live" to Texas just yet. I don't believe the network lines extended to this area 'til 1952. I'll try to find THAT article soon.
