Retro Disco May Return

To kindly quote Tibbs from the one of his "famous speeches" :D

Top-rated MISTY 96 wets listeners whistles for Disco

WMRO-FM signed on with an all disco format and promptly ranks
#1 beating longtime market leaders WJXA, WCJK and WUBT.
Mix 92.9 is now number 34th and is considering an all-Rupert
all-the-time format after playing Christmas music. "Lionel
Ritchie started dancin' on the ceilin' at Misty and Mix imploded",
reports Mix's Bryan Sargent. "That's alright, them boys can't play
Rimes, Rascal and Ritchie like we can. Let 'em have the Bee
Gees." The seasoned owners paid $25 for the station and hope
to be debt free by 2075," says part-time air personality Dave
'Disco Duck' Ramsey. Buddy Sadler is voice tracking subliminal
"We Hate Scott" messages over WHIN to combat the Sumner
County listenership. The biggest success seems to be the
weekend dance parties all over town sponsored by Arbor Mist.
The station overall rated .... (edit) ....

Well Tibbs, I have found a guy that wants to play Disco on Sunday Evenings on Magic 1560! To heck what the other stations think, I just worry about all the rocks and stones getting thrown at me like they did in Chicago, cira 1979! We'll just have ole bud come over and have a nip with us and think about the good ole days. I just bought a Autogram Console, with rotary faders on it. These kids of today should have been born and bread on Johnny River's "Secret Agent Man", a bottle of Arbor Mist, and REAL long hair.

I'll let Ole Bud get on Magic and tell me how dumb & silly I am, HEE HAW! :D

I'll just give him a dose of 'Saturday Night Fever" to take back to the other station......BOOGIE ON.......IT'S JUST A WLS BOOGIE CHECK! ;D

Delta --- that is an awesome find. Hahaha. I miss those days.

I'd do the disco show for a swig of Arbor Mist! Who wouldn't??? Gotta
do it, Scott.

You'd just have to let me play Patrick Hernandez "Born to be Alive" ever
so often to light up the phones. The FCC should let you turn up the juice for
that music. Who would tell?

Somehow just thinking of Buddy laughing in the background
during the breaks would be exceptional. Romer could mask his voice so no one
would know it was really him. Call himself Chris with a "K".

Burn Baby Burn....Disco Inferno.

Oh, were stackin up the wax now for it (these days mp3's)

*I not joking here, I damn well serious! We are going to do this after the Christmas Hoidays, providing we get our **** together. Majik 13 will return "ALIVE", but down the dial on 1560,......MAJIK 1560! A heyday memory for me, a revistited nightmare for Mr. Romer. The guy that will be hosting the show will be a guy named Shawn, but he hasn't told me what he's going by on the air yet.

Gallatin is in for a treat, some will hate it (old fart men) and all women will like it, and ready to "Bust a Move"! No, we won't be playing MC Hammer, but Mr. Romer I'm sure recalls "Haven't you heard", by Patrice Rushen, and that will get played. That came out in 1979, and what a great dance song! Oh yes, we will be playing Patrick Hernandez's "Born to be Alive"! And of course, The Bee Gees! When I think of Disco, the Bee Gees were the Kings of Disco, and one of them owns a house in Hendersonville!

In all seriousness, this is something I've really wanted to do, because I miss Majik 13's sound, even though it didn't last long. I think it was August/September of 1978 when it started and died December 31st at midnight when Chris and Bill took WMAK back to Oldies. This is just a specialty show and we are only doing it 1 day out of the week ( on the weekend ) for about 4 hours or so. But of course, I have my contract with ABC, so we have to stick with Hot AC as the main format. Who know's, this may bring back folks to AM, and if it doesn't work out, I can't say at least I didn't try. Disco Music (at least the late 70's/early 80's) is approching 30 years old, and to me, these songs are OLDIES! This my pet project for "2009"!

You need to talk Lester Turner into putting this on Lightning 100 as well.
Are you still working with the lovely Laurel Creech?

Ummmm, that's an idea. I've got a meeting with Fred Buc in the next two weeks. We haven't got it really off the ground to where we can air it yet, & it may be a while, but we are working on it. Shawn is still dubbing music from mp3 to CD, to make it easy for him, then we have to purchase a jingle package, just for that show. So many things to do to make it sound right.

Laurel had to stop doing odd jobs (spots) for me due to the load at Lightning. Some things have change there and thier staff has gotten limited, and staff wearing different hats. She hated to do it, but Team Green had to come first. She said if things slow down in the future, she come back and help us out. She a good friend to Magic 1560.

Scott, "Bust A Move" was sung by Young MC in 1989. I don't know if MC Hammer had a different song with 'bust a move' in lyrics.

Yea, your right, I played the song when it was new back in my airshift days at 92Q. My mistake, Young MC is correct. That was almost 10 years ago.

Delta --- that is an awesome find. Hahaha. I miss those days. you know what..i'm gonna buy one of these for my little corner of the house..not a 20 incher..but one of the 8 inch models..(stop the snickering..i know what everyone just thought..) ..it will fit in perfect with the lava lamp , and black light on the jimi hendrix poster..course i can't have them all on at once...once i get the 10 watt fm transmitter turned on..wonder if gallatin electric will have to put in another transformer over here ? WATT..just how much would my electric bill go up ?..there's a comcast head end a half mile from my house..maybe i could run an extension cord over there...

delta, keep the John Travolta "Saturday Night Fever" polyester suit a safe distance from lava lamp. Heat and synthetic fibers don't mix.
