Wow.

And nada on Sundays either, running Revista at 6 and HN at 11.

Kind of makes you wonder why they didn't air local news at 6 and 11 on weekends. BTW, was this the first sign that they were going to lose their NBC affiliation to Channel 10, for that matter?

Good question, though the switch wouldn't happen until July 1, 1989...

Sounds like a cross between NBC's existing regular weekend shows, "Friday Night Videos" and "Saturday Night Live".

Maybe it was a pilot of some sort, maybe as a replacement for SNL or perhaps a late-night program for Sunday?

Also, as Bozo was one of the guests, which one was it?

Why do you suppose WROC didn't have local news at 6 and 11 on Saturdays and Sundays? Why'd they opt for CNN Headline News in those time slots? Had they ceded the weekend news to Channels 10 and 13, or was there something else going on?

I'm not intimately familiar with the Rochester market, but my understanding is that Channel 8 was a distant third behind Channels 10 and 13 starting in the 1970s through the 1990s. Perhaps they couldn't attract profitable enough advertising on weekends.
