Air Force Maj. Gen. Charles M. Eisenhart is the Grand Marshal of the annual Lilac Festival-Armed Forces Day parade. KXLY and KHQ offer coverage live and to conclusion. Climaxing a week of Lilac Festival activities, the parade includes 48 bands, 13 military and 19 mounted units, and 65 floats, representing 80 Inland Empire communities. Festival queen Diane Hausken, a 17-year-old senior from East Valley High School, Spokane, and her court are seen on the lilac float, which won first place at the Wenatchee Apple Blossom Festival. Prizes will be awarded to top floats entered. Ch. 4's coverage originates from 1st and Lincoln St., Ch. 6 from Sprague & Howard, in Downtown Spokane.
