Baltimore NFL Start Times (Was: Re: Retro: Eastern Washington Sun, Dec 3, 1967)

During the late 1960's and most of the 1970's, the old Baltimore Colts' home games always started at 2:05 P.M. EST/EDT (I believe it was due to Blue Laws in Baltimore).

Thus, when a TV network carried an NFL doubleheader and the Baltimore Colts were in the early game, the late (4:05 P.M. EST/EDT) game would be joined in progress (midway through the second quarter) on those stations that had carried the Baltimore game.

In the case of the TV listings for Eastern Washington State for December 3rd, 1967 from TV Guide, the Baltimore game started at 11:05 A.M. PT; other "early" NFL games would be seen on the West Coast at 10:05 A.M. PT.
