KATN also had the 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympics when the games went to NBC. And early in the 1995-96 season, they ran the first promos for the 1996 Olympics in the hopes that Channel 2 would carry them next, but that wouldn't be the case as Smith Media would acquire them and two other ABC stations in Anchorage and Juneau in November 1995.
