RETRO IN THE METRO ONLY ON FRIDAYS?

Did I just hear daveFM's Renee (subbing for Sully) correctly? She said that “Retro In The Metro” will now be from 5:00 to 6:00 ONLY on Fridays?

I guess that is something that happens when a host when goes on vacation!

Yes, you did hear correctly and it is a huge programming blunder.

The hour started getting better when I got Michelle Engle canned last year. Now with Steve Craig in NYC, "Retro in the Metro" is the only place in the ATL to hear the Modern Rock/Post-Modern/Pre-Alternative 1980's music. One would think that DAVE-FM would increase this music to lure older 99X listeners. Me thinks Mike Wheeler has fewer and fewer clues on how to program this format.

It's not too late to make a change. I come in, Zakk goes to sports, Margot adds Wilco, Andy goes away, Reverend Andy from Album 788 comes in, Mara continues to be Mara, I bring in a morning show "chosen" by me and Radio Atlanta is born.

I have tried to reach Rich Sullivan. He is either crying over the loss of Tom Brady or at the Kajagoogoo Fan Club meeting at Central City Tavern on Peachtree Rd NW, fielding questions about why the band won’t be played anymore.

Damn! I liked that feature because it let me hear songs that none of the stations back in Pittsburgh played. I didn't realize that it wasn't for 40-somethings like me.

Does anyone think that anyone in radio will ever wise up and realize that people stopped limiting their musical taste to whatever was hip when they were in high school almost 25 years ago? What kind of idiot still believes that only the people who were in high school during a certain decade like the music from that decade?

I was just getting ready to start listening to this more often on the way home....but I guess it's just another reason to keep Sirius' First Wave channel on preset.

Unfortunately, it's true most of the time.

Or Fred on 44, for us XM folks.

Indeed--I didn't listen to the show when I can hear the same stuff on XM sans commercials.

Yes, I too miss SC's HORP at lunch on 99X as well as the long gone Reserurection Sunday. Retro in the Metro was my closest replacement. Thank goodness for Sirius Ch 22!! Yes, I'm old......

How many times have I said on this board that Wheeler hasn't got a clue how to run a station nor does he care about any of his people. I know this from experience! I heard some of his employees quit because of his "briliant moves."

I like you're ideas Neil, maybe one day someone will follow through with them. I will add that Orf needs to be brought back from the graveyard shift.
