Army renews its fierce rivalry (begun in 1890) at John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia. Army leads the series 33-30-6. Army: The offense has sputtered on the way to a 3-5-1 mark, but the Cadets have a good ground attack featuring Lynn Moore. The passing is weak. Their defense is adequate, with fine work from the tackles, led by Joe Neuman. Navy: The offense's 1-8 record tells the story. The Midshipmen have tallied only 26 points over their last five games, though Mike McNallen is a good passer and Dan Pike a fair runner. Their defense is small. Allowed 45 points or more four times, but held Syracuse to 15 in last contest. Chris Schenkel and Bud Wilkinson report the action.

Time approximate. Penn State meets North Carolina State at Raleigh. Penn State: The offense revolves around a potent ground game featuring Charlie Pittman (24), Lydell Mitchell (23) and Franco Harris (34). The defense is the big reason Penn State's among the country's top teams. Linebackers Dennis Onkotz (35) and Jim Kates (55) are outstanding, and so are tackles Mike Reid (68) and Steve Smear (76). Like Penn State, N.C. State has a powerful running team. Charlie Bowers (30) and Leon Mason (25) lead the way. Their defense is forecast as a superior unit, but it has performed inconsistently. Leaders include tackle Ron Carpenter (70). Bill Flemming and Lee Grosscup report.
