...why would it be funny that Stuarti appeared on Griffin's show, particularly since both Griffin and Douglas were Westinghouse products at this time?...
 
I know that Westinghouse syndicated both shows at the time
(this is just before Merv went to CBS), but I don't think Westinghouse
had any say-so about guest bookings (except that they objected to
Lenny Bruce's appearance on Steve Allen's syndicated show a few years
earlier). It just struck me as odd because Enzo Stuarti was almost a
regular with Mike but if Merv wanted to book him, well...no law against it.
