I remember these listings back then when visiting the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area. I found it odd how WKXT (now WVLT) aired five minutes of news at 11:00 then had Married...with Children at 11:05. Most stations aired at least a 6:00 and 11:00 newscast. They expanded their news operation around 1997 when they became WVLT.
 
KAPP/KVEW does the same thing nowadays in Yakima and Tri-Cities. The recession forced them to make tons of cuts and they have barely recovered. News at 11pm is 2 1/2 minutes long, with 2 1/2 minutes of commercials before Jimmy Kimmel Live comes on at 11:05...earlier than just about any PT ABC affiliate.
No weekend news whatsoever, but there are occasional weather updates.
