What was usually on 6 at 4PM, since the Afterschool Special preempted it?

It's always interesting to see what ABC stations did once "Family Feud" moved back to 11:30 a.m. (which it did the previous October). Some of the stations that had news at noon (such as WPVI in Philly and WNEP in Scranton) aired "Ryan's Hope" at 11:30 instead (which had moved to noon).

It is.

Note, too, that this is about three years before WBIR switched
from CBS to NBC, and WTVK moved from Ch. 26 to drop-in Ch. 8
with call letters WKXT (now WVLT) and a CBS affiliation.

Some pretty good shows on Independent 43. I would guess that it is FOX in 2012???

Yes, that is now Fox, and now WTNZ. I have an old VHS tape with an episode of the Simpsons and Babes [the Dolly Parton guest-starred episode] from the night of 2/7/91, with commercials and IDs for WKCH FOX 43. Also have another VHS with an episode of Xena, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and two eps of Cops taped off in 1996 or so, also off WTNZ [they had changed calls by then].
