Don't forget that future Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak was doing weather on KNBC at the time. Pretty ironic that Charlie and Pat would wind up working together many years later!

I know that's meant as a joke. Actually, he's best
known as a talk-show host on KABC radio; he was
born in England, BTW.
 
In the mid 70's KWHY-TV 22 actually went off the air from 2:30pm until 5pm, then signed off again around 11pm. They kept this up until the Pay TV network, SelecTV came along a year later. KBSC-TV 52 was testing on this night for it's debut of "ON-TV" two days later (April 1, 1977).
