That CBS Primetime schedule sounds godawful. Other than Dave's World(which had been on since what, 92 or '93) none of those shows made it beyond one season, let alone half a season. Andrew Dice Clay? Really? Ugh. This was definitely the nadir for CBS from 1995-1998 as CBS was still reeling from its downfall during the Laurence Tisch years.

They had a cool campaign in those days ('You're On') but the premise failed with viewers. Bless This House only made it to January. Courthouse only made it to November. In the case of Bless This House, I don't know what CBS was thinking when they casted Andrew Dice Clay, known for raunchy and disgusting comedy.

Yeah I remember a multiple hits and misses for CBS during that period. They had that Absolutely Fabulous rip-off that with Jean Smart that was fun but way too progressive for CBS. Also there was American Gothic, New York News, and Central Park West which if those shows had been on Fox and/or WB they would have flourished better and lasted longer.

Then there was the odd case of Can’t Hurry Love with Nancy McKeon which was connected to The Nanny as Mr. Sheffield was McKeon’s character landlord. Despite being a Top 25 hit CBS mysteriously cancelled it.

It seems odd that during this period CBS’ biggest hits were on Saturday and Sunday nights. I know for myself between Northern Exposure’s finale and not until Early Edition became a cult hit that I barely watched anything on CBS primetime as opposed to the other nets at the time.
