From 1978 to 1985, most cable viewers in Newfoundland got the ABC and NBC Bangor stations. I'm not sure if the CBS Bangor station was ever carried at that time, though as mentioned in a previous thread, the CBS Detroit station was carried in 1984. It would probably take at least a few more vintage listings from either the Newfoundland Herald, Evening Telegram, or Western Star to confirm at least the year in which WJBK started getting carried on Cable Atlantic (now Rogers).

You answered half my previous post, which I didn't look far enough down the page to see!! Egads. I remember what a basket-case WVII ABC7 Bangor was in the 70's...They were always losing their microwave signal due to atmospherics/trops skip. It was an embarassment to us Mainers, never mind to our friends to the east. But I was always amazed at how many commercials they had for NS and NB businesses.. And Stacy's Country Jamboree... this could start a whole new thread.

Revisiting this thread...

I found a couple of Canadian commercials on a tape I managed to locate earlier this week. It was from 1985 and the programs found on the tape were the ABC Afterschool Special (My Mom's Having a Baby) and the last 30 minutes of ABC Sunday Night Movie (California Girls) plus an ABC News Weekend Brief from 3/24/1985. There were also commercials for Juicy Juice ("Wouldn't it be nice to drink a bowl of fruit?"), Corn Flakes, and Cheerios with Charlie Brown and Snoopy just to name a few.

Also, the picture quality of the tape in the last 30 minutes alternated between colour and black-and-white as it was pretty much a fair to poor state.
