Another WAGM posting, hooray!

Noticed that if the ABC ballgame was not gonna air (rain, perhaps?), their backup would be CBS programs. I wonder how ABC & CBS felt about that arrangement....

Good question, given that the station was primary CBS and cherry-picked from the other two :)

I've also noticed that WAGM carried a lot of the syndied programs from WABI...did WAGM pick up CBS OTA from Bangor, or was it just a coincidence that WAGM and WABI carried syndied programming in tandem?

Presque Isle and Bangor are 134 air miles apart, so I doubt WAGM-TV would've picked Bangor up over the air. I know that they get NBC and ABC from Bangor on cable to this day.

Unless for viewing within the station newsroom as is the case in every newsroom, I don't see how that's possible since WAGM is a CBS affiliate with a Fox duopoly

Cheers & 73 ;D

Do you have the CBC schedule for Monday, Oct. 9--Canadian Thanksgiving Day (and of course Columbus Day in the US)? Just curious what the holiday schedule for CBC (and/or if you also have CTV) looked like back then--would there have been a lot of special holiday programming on that day?

I think that KML was referring to two different things: first off was how WAGM received a network signal as well as syndie fare (back in their 3 network days). He dismissed the idea that they could have been received over the air from Bangor (and I agree). Second part of his statement referred to the offerings on local cable in the Presque Isle area, which include ABC and NBC affiliates from Bangor. If the newsroom at WAGM has cable TV (a safe bet), then they too can see those channels.

I'm happy to translate anytime and can even do some Spanish. Mandarin'll cost you extra.... ;)

I just keep an interest in Maine because I've lived there twice (I'm a native of Connecticut). However, both times were well within the Portland/Poland Spring DMA and not Presque Isle. It was fun doing a day trip to Portland and picking up the Maine Edition of TV Guide. The listings of WAGM-TV were always the first ones I looked up, seeing what cherry picking they were doing back then.

On a foot note: my two stints in Maine were both in York County. They received the New Hampshire Edition in those parts. Nothing from Bangor or Presque Isle were included in that one.
