NBC pre-emptions: Because of the Red Sox game on WLBZ and WCSH, listed below are the shows the two stations did not air, and which said information was sourced from the May 19, 1984 edition of The Toledo Blade, where all six NBC stations (WKYC Cleveland, WDIV Detroit, WILX Jackson/Lansing, WTVG Toledo, WKJG (WISE) Fort Wayne, WLIO Lima) listed in that paper carried those shows.

8:30: Silver Spoons
9:00: People Are Funny
9:30: Mama’s Family
10:00: George Burns (John Forsythe, Ann-Margret, others help Burns observe his 80 years in show business)

For years, WSBK was the flagship station of the Boston Red Sox.

WMTW-TV (ABC) channel 8 is actually licensed (then and now) to Poland Spring, ME. Their transmitter in those days was on Mount Washington, NH, giving coverage to a section of Vermont as well. The TV scene would change quite a bit in the Portland/Poland Spring market two years later, when WPXT-TV channel 51 of Portland signed on (first as a charter FOX affiliate, then WB and now CW). I think the Red Sox were still on WCSH-TV when I lived in Old Orchard Beach from 1985 to 1987. The cable at that time would simply put WCSH-TV on the spot where WSBK-TV was.

CHSJ (CBAT) Channel 4 Saint John (CBC)
7:00: 100 Huntley Street
8:00: Circle Square (both this and 100 Huntley were produced by Crossroads Television, which currently has its own station in Toronto)

Actually, the station, CITS-TV (CTS) is based in Burlington, which is between Toronto and Hamilton. In addition, CTS also has two other stations, in Calgary (CKCS-TV) and Edmonton (CKES-TV). The Crossroads ministry has been based in Burlington since 1992 (I think).

The old 100 Huntley Street studios in Toronto has since been demolished and replaced with a parking garage for Rogers Communications' headquarters next door.

Did the Bangor paper actually have variant listings for CHSJ, even though the paper was not sold in Canada (I think)?

From my own research scanning various editions of the BDN, they did...the paper was sold in some border towns (I've seen it sold in St. Stephen), and was also sold in Moncton and Saint John.
