How could there be 3 ch.5's?? And how could there be 2 (English) cbc afilliates in ONE town -- Yorkton? And why is only 1 U.S. afilliate (ch. 12) listed? Wouldn't you think within a hundred mile radius or so there might be a CBS or NBC afilliate available? ???

The 5s are spaced out far apart from each other, between Brandon (SW Manitoba), Prince Albert (Northern Sask) and Swft Current (SW Sask). Also, CKX-TV is in Brandon, Manitoba, not Yorkton.

Not at the time, especially as it's in the days before cable, and KCND is the only station close enough to the border -- WDAZ in Devil's Lake (then NBC) just started up in 1967, but was not listed yet; and KGFE in Grand Forks (the PBS / Prairie Public outlet) wouldn't begin until 1974.

Oops...didn't notice I had Yorkton for CKX...that should read Brandon. CKOS would move to ch 5 in the 70s. In TVG, CKX had a white bullet, CJFB a white one, and CKBI a striped bullet with a black number 5 (that would become a white number 5 when the listings format changed).

My guess is that 4/9 may be Stampede from Calgary (CKCW Moncton in my neck of the woods was running it around that time). KCND likely is AWA, given that Winnipeg was the AWA's main Canadian beachhead; wouldn't be surprised if CJAY ran that too...KC/CKND carried wrestling well into the 80s, if not the 90s.

"Mon Oncle Bill" on CBWFT 3 (Radio-Canada) at 8pm is My Uncle Bill, the French name for the sitcom "Family Affair" starring Brian Keith and Sebastian Cabot.

I use Radio-Canada instead of SRC since I don't think they were using that abbrieviation for Societe (corporation) Radio-Canada back then... at least I saw only Radio-Canada in TV Guides and on screen. I thought it was odd that the French language originally used Radio to refer to all broadcasting, radio and TV. The Quebec provincial public television service started off as Radio-Quebec but now calls itself Tele-Quebec.

Is there an interesting story as to why the CBC Winnipeg English station CBWT 6 and French CBWFT 3 switched channels eventually?

This may have been more of a Quebec thing than a feature of the French language in general. In France, Radiodiffusion Français became Radiodiffusion-Télévision Française (RTF) as soon as it started regular TV broadcasting in 1949, and I'm not aware of any French broadcasting entity ever using the term "radio" to refer to both radio and TV.
