I remember when ECO occupied much of XEW-TV's non-primetime schedule. But I didn't realize it ran from late night till 3:30pm the next day! It was mostly an all-news operation, although it could have a mariachi band come into the studio to play a song or two or a movie star might hawk his latest film. Notice that Jacobo Zabludovsky was the 10:30pm anchor. He was the lead anchor, the Walter Cronkite of Mexican TV. I believe it was his son Abraham who was an ECO anchor in the daytime. XEW-TV had a translator station in Tijuana which I could see from San Diego when I was vacationing there one summer week.

This was an era where Mexican TV stations only did happy news. No murders, no crime, no fires, no strikes, no poverty, no pollution. Only stories that were planned news events, ribbon cuttings, new school openings, conferences with men in suits. I guess the TV networks didn't want to upset the government. It also struck me that all the anchors were very European. No anchors were the color of most average Mexicans.

It is informative manipulation, where news programs do not want us to show the true reality of the country at a global level, that is why I do not follow the news of Televisa, nor of other channels

The era you speak of was the seven decade one-party rule of the PRI. Those stations owed their licenses to the Party.

Most of the leadership had mostly Spanish heritage; Mexico has had only one indigenous president and that was 160 years ago (and, arguably, he was the best president the country has ever had").

Televisa has long had anchors, soap opera stars and entertainers who don't look typically Mexican. In the case of dramatic shows, they explain that they syndicate to over 100 countries so they have to look "international". But that does not explain the comedies, news and other shows that are limited to Mexican and, perhaps, Central American and US audiences.
