Ralph Renick's show was in fact WTVJ's early evening newscast.

I believe he began at the station when it first went on the air in 1949 and anchored their early evening local newscast for nearly four decades. I also think he anchored special events and narrated documentaries for them for a few years after stepping down from the anchor desk.

He probably remains the most iconic news anchor in Miami television history.

All of this info is correct. He started in 1949 and left in 1985. Still revered in this town, and especially at WTVJ.
