4 Santa Barbara (despite WTVJ is an O&O station, wasn't airing the soaps in pattern)
A lot of the NBC O&Os aired Santa Barbara and then later Another World before Days of our Lives. I'm not sure what the strategy was because that put them in competition with shows like All My Children and the Young and the Restless plus didn't have Days for a lead in. Many non O&O stations aired Santa Barbara earlier in the morning with no other soap competition.

I checked the listings of other O&Os from the same day and WNBC aired Santa Barbara at noon. KNBC and WMAQ carried it at 2pm and WRC at 3pm. WRC moved it from 3pm to noon later that September. I'm not sure about KCNC in Denver, but IIRC, also aired Santa Barbara before AW and Days back then.

One of our area stations in Indianapolis on WTHR 13 had Another World at 10 and Days at 11 throughout the mid-90s and they said AW was #1 in the 10am time slot when NBC cancelled it. Passions aired at 10 after AW's cancellation. I believe Days was #1 or #2 at 11. Days remained at 11 until four or five years ago when they moved it to 1:00pm.

Did the soaps aired on a one-day delay?

Did the soaps aired on a one-day delay?

No, after Santa Barbara's cancellation in 1993, I seem to recall that NBC provided early feeds of their shows to affiliates. It wasn't until after Santa Barbara's cancellation that WTHR moved Another World to the morning and shook up their daytime lineup against the ABC and CBS stations. CBS was very dominant back then and the ABC station in Indianapolis decided to air the ABC soaps on the Central schedule from 11:30-3:00pm Eastern which meant all the shows were on a one day delay during the Fall/Winter months when Indiana was with the Eastern time zone. Each Spring when the time changed, the ABC soaps would air on the weekend so they could catch up to air the Central time zone feed the following Monday. This continued until Indiana started changing time and they went back to the regular Eastern time zone schedule for everything.
