5 Mr. Hot Dog

The show's sponsors, "Mr. Hot Dog", is a chain of restaurants in the Bay City area that specialised in the titular hot dogs, plus other meals such as fish and chicken. Jim Peyton, channel 5's weatherman, played the "Mr. Hot Dog" mascot. Both the chain and the mascot (which still looks like Peyton) are still around today, though Peyton died a few years back (I think).

As the show is primarily a rock program, I wonder why Welk appeared on that program that day.
