KAIT 8-Jonesboro/K11JW Blytheville (ABC)
5:55 Little Broadcast

Wonder if this was a typo in the publication. KAIT's program was Little Breadcast. I think it was a religious module.

Curious that TV LIFE didn't include listings for Greenwood (or Greenville - not sure when in 1980 that WXVT-15 first powered up), or even Columbus, Miss., Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Paducah, Ky. - heck, even Nashville. All those markets also overlapped with Memphis stations. I seem to recall The Commercial Appeal's "Mid-South" TV tab had a page with listings from many stations - from Cape Girardeau and - IIRC - Jackson, Miss. and Florence, Ala.

Thanks for posting. I always like seeing old Memphis/Mid-South area listings.

According to FCC records, WMAB is licensed today to "Mississippi State", in reference to Mississippi State University, which is located in Starkville.

Actually, "¿Qué Pasa, USA?" was said to be PBS's first sitcom, having debuted three years later, in 1977.

Apparently at the time, Nick, which went national the previous year, was sharing time with CBN or another religious network, even though CBN apparently had its own transponder. Apparently, this would change when ARTS (A&E) starts up the following year.

Re "Love, American Style": Turner used segments from that
show as occasional fillers, since the sketches were of varying
lengths. He did have a regular half-hour slot (noon is the one
I remember best) for it, but sometimes he'd air a segment between,
say, the end of a Braves game and the next program on the schedule.

I wish I could find copies of "TV Life"; I seem to recall editions for
Georgia and South Carolina, each with more stations than TV Guide had.

I think Florida also had an edition -- it had listings for channels in Tampa Bay, Orlando, Fort Myers, Gainesville and Jacksonville.

The magazine ceased publication in the early-1980s -- the last few issues being without local listings, just articles and listings for national channels.

...I vaguely recall a station somewhere using Rod Serling's Night Gallery, which also had segments of varying lengths, in a similar stopgap fashion...

Wonder why KAIT had All My Children taped by one-day? Maybe because of no dish to get ABC feeds?

I believe the networks still relied on telephone and microwave to get network feeds at the time. Also, "All My Children" was seen at 1PM ET / 12 Noon CT, as today.

Also, per the schedule, WHBQ also showed AMC on a delay, as well.

I see listings for WKNO-10 from Memphis and the Mississippi ETV stations, but what about
the Little Rock PBS station, KETS, Ch. 2?

Wasn't listed...just the Big 3 Little Rock channels were listed.

The magazine's national HQ was in Florida, it was based out of DeFuniak Springs.
