I would like Minneapolis-St. Paul listings from the 80s
if you could find them, but if not I would understand.

Thanks for posting this! I was in high school during this time, and this was when I began taking an interest in television as a business.

- It's interesting looking at WTMJ's schedule then, compared to now. Channel 4's daytime schedule today is almost all news after NBC's gazillion hours of "Today." (News these days is programmed on WTMJ from noon to 1 p.m., 3 to 5:30 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m., and if a snowflake falls from the sky -- as it did two days ago here in Brew City -- all bets are off!)

- Milwaukee, like many other cities, would endure an affiliate shake-up several years later from the New World deal. In late 1994, WITI (Channel 6) became a FOX affiliate, WCGV (Channel 24) would go to UPN a month later (when it was launched) and, in a move that would drastically bolster its presence, WDJT (Channel 58) joined the CBS family.

- Over the years, WDJT has changed drastically from its humble beginnings. (Programming, as one can see in this post, was a lot of shows passed on by network affiliates and public domain stuff.) Despite its changes, the channel has always been under the same ownership -- Weigel Broadcasting -- since its inception in 1988. Weigel today has become a pioneer with its ME-TV channels in Chicago and Milwaukee and its partnership with the This TV channel on digital subchannels. Speaking of Channel 58, I believe the 2 p.m. news was a feed from the All News Channel, a defunct, um, all news channel, that tried at the time to compete with CNN.

Wow. Now, that is a rarity. An actual, non-Fox, non-independent station airing the show - and at a visible viewing hour, no less. I guess Balki was big in Milwaukee, what can I say...

Does anyone remember that WCGV's Kids Club around this time was hosted by Amy (in safari costume) and Dudely The Dinosaur (or maybe he was a dragon? I don't quite remember)? I don't know why I remember that. :)

Syndicated bowling still going in '92. Not bad. 9PM news is a great thing. Chicago and Milwaukee are the only markets I'm aware of that really had it. Detroit had it very briefly when Independent WADL aired an INN produced newscast about eight years ago. Only lasted about three months.
