Jeopardy and Wheel didn't run together. Surprised there wasn't a UPN affiliate at this time. 24 ran a pretty good slate of independent programming. 55 ran a bunch of junk.

In the Central time zone, it's not uncommon for J! and Wheel not airing back-to-back in certain markets; down in the road in Chicago, WLS has also aired Jeopardy! at 3:30pm, and Wheel at 6:30. Both stations had/have well-established 6pm newscasts for decades.

As far as UPN, WCGV lost the affiliation at the start of 1998 because of contractual issues between owner Sinclair and the network; they re-joined UPN that August.

Channel 55 was an inTV station, the predecessor to Pax TV/Ion.

In Central Time markets, Jeopardy! almost always gets moved to mid-afternoon (with Wheel always being at 6:30)
