Do you have that edition's "Satellites and Originating Stations" roster? The only ones OTOH would be the 11 half of the KOLN/KGIN "10/11" simulcast in Grand Island, the NET stations, and IIRC a channel 4 in Superior, NE.

Sioux City would be 3 years, 3 months and 8 days away from becoming the first "Late Show with David Letterman" home office when KMEG-14 passed on Dave's first CBS season due to the station's claim that two of the above shows (Cheers and Star Trek) which were still on their late-night schedule in summer 1993 brought better local ratings than the likes of "Tonight Show" (after Jay Leno's first year) and Nightline. IMO certainly there was no excuse why the station could have brought back a similar scheduling pattern and have Dave at 11, then Star Trek at midnight again (by 1993 it had become a back-to-back combo of Cheers at 10:30 and the Starship Enterprise at 11). I remember seeing a Sioux City Journal article about KMEG's decision to pass on Letterman when my family was staying overnight there on the way home from a Black Hills vacation that summer.

Also, the Nebraska edition would be the home TVG edition for Wahoo, NE--another one of Dave's Late Show home offices. ;D

Although listed separately, 8a KCAN Albion NE was a satellite of 9 KCAU Sioux City.

17 KTTW was running some religious programming during the day from some religious net, I think FamilyNet. This was gradually reduced as they picked up more conventional syndicated fare.

So at first KTTW seemed to be a bit crummy on programming. No sign of daytime syndi programs, but they did have Arsenio and Star Trek on the weekend.

Channel 8 used to be KCNA in Albion, and was NTV. Then it went indie as KBGT, and 24/7 for a short time. Financial losses caused it to switch to a KCAU satellite (why couldn't they just take KETV and make it a satellite? Isn't Omaha closer to Albion?), before moving to Lincoln and becoming KLKN in 1996.

-crainbebo

And P.S.-when did KMEG ever get news?

KCAU bought KBGT for not very much (I'm thinking less then $2-million.) and originally did have a little bit of separate programming, but that ended quickly. I think KCAU saw it as a way to raise their national spot rates with the second signal. Later, they figured out it could be moved to Lincoln.

KMEG had news when they first went on the air in the late 60s, but dropped it in the mid-70s. They continued with a few one minute updates per day for a few years after that. Sometime in the 90s, they added five-minute weather at 6 & 10pm. Somewhere around 2000, they put in a full-fledged news department.

I don't think KMEG has been very successful with local news. Last time I saw any ratings (at least a couple of years ago) KTIV had about twice the news audience as KCAU and KMEG combined.
