Retro Network Having Problems?

PTBoardOp94 said:
Is there really that much competition for digital subchannel affiliations that you'd leave RTV to go to ... some other network? Or are we talking just blanking the channel?

Its not on a subchannel, its on our main. And no one needs to run a subchannel. Infomercials do quite nicely in bringing in the revenue.

There are small to mid-size markets that uses sub-channels to broadcast CBS, FOX, THE CW, Univision, MYTV programming. The only reason that RTV and Me Tv/This TV able to broadcast are the sub-channels. Sub-channels are cheaper than a digital transmitter. Some LPDT muticast their signals

How many full power stations will drop a major network for RTV?

I'm almost convinced RTV has only two Peter Gunn episodes in
its library--"rogue cops shoot crime boss on deserted road" and
"murder in jazz club."

Jazz club ran again today, and crime boss ran (again) recently.

Hey, at least Adam 12 today is one I don't recall.

Pretty sad I never watched the old Mike Hammers but have so far seen the same one twice 2 Sundays in a row now... and the same Ironside AGAIN a THIRD time (with Eve's niece getting into trouble). So far I've gotten lucky with the Hardy Boys Nancy Drew Mysteries on Sunday & not seen a recent repeat...although after seeing the one this past Sunday with Valerie Bertinelli in boots & hip huggers I wouldn't mind seeing it again soon!

Between the overmodded audio and sync problems RTV is getting more difficult to watch every week.....assuming, of course, you haven't already seen the episodes in the past few days.

To be honest, the network was better when Equity ran it -- and that's even with the economic troubles that they had. The way things are going, it even makes today's TV Land and Nick at Nite look good.

I have never seen technical problems this bad...and this widespread. The NOC is the problem...poorly designed and put online in a hurry. They need to chuck the current hub system, and go either to station based automation systems, or a hybrid system (national feed with rights protected programming replaced at the station end). I have not checked in with WSB-TV 2.2 lately, so I don't know what is going on here. WSB-TV no longer promotes RTN (or whatever it is now), although promotion has always been limited. At this rate, WSB-TV would be better off chucking RTN, making the subchannel 720p HD, and going all-local to make up for them being unable to acquire a second station due to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper.

Perhaps they should take the NOC and throw it in the Tennessee River. Then the TVA can deal with the headaches, and not the local affiliates and the viewers.
