For most of the game shows you mention the emcee's name, but
you left out a few (or maybe the Times did): Bud Collyer was still
hosting "Beat The Clock," George DeWitt was hosting "Name That
Tune," WNEW disc jockey Ted Brown did "Across The Board," and
one who's still in the game-show business, Johnny Gilbert ("This...is...
JEOPARDY!"), did "Music Bingo." (Gilbert, BTW, began his career as
a singer with a band in Newport News, VA, so he was a good choice
to host a musical game, as was DeWitt, who'd been a nightclub singer
and comedian in Atlantic City and whose career was helped by a boost
from Frank Sinatra; DeWitt had a longtime friendship with at least two
Rat Pack members: Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr.)
