...as well as the beginning of a year-long hiatus from prime time TV for Godfrey; when The Arthur Godfrey Show reappeared in September 1958, it shrunk from a full hour to a half hour and ran only one more season. I don't recall if the daytime Arthur Godfrey Time simulcast also took a break, but of course the radio side of that program kept Godfrey on the air until April of 1972...

America After Dark; it had been hosted by Jack Lescoulie, who this week was subbing for Dave Garroway on Today, and for its final month (including this broadcast) its host was Al "Jazzbo" Collins. Franklin Pangborn introduced Jack Paar on the new incarnation just over a month after this...
